Presentation note from the scientific coordinator of the "Masters of Literature" seminar promoted by the "Italian Literature and Romance Studies" section of the Department of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Florence on the occasion of the university's centenary.

Il breve articolo sviluppa un’introduzione tematica ai testi presentati per il seminario “Tre grandi filosofi dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze”, 18 ottobre 2024, Dipartimento di Lettere e Filosofia dell’Università di Firenze, eventi per la Celebrazione del Centenario UNIFI – Sezione di Filosofia.

This short article develops a thematic introduction to the texts presented for the seminar "Three Great Philosophers of the University of Florence", October 18, 2024, Department of Literature and Philosophy of the University of Florence, events for the Celebration of the UNIFI Centenary – Philosophy Section.

Il saggio, che si inserisce nel quadro delle celebrazioni per il centenario dell’Ateneo fiorentino, ripercorre alcuni tratti salienti dell’itinerario intellettuale di Cesare Luporini. Il saggio evidenzia la ricchezza dei piani di riflessione presenti nel pensiero di Luporini, ricostruendone i momenti fondamentali a partire dalla fase esistenzialista. A guidare questa ricostruzione sono tre parole-chiave: libertà, situazione e futuro.

The essay, prepared as part of the centenary celebrations of the University of Florence, retraces key moments in Cesare Luporini’s intellectual trajectory. It underscores the richness and articulation of the various dimensions of his thought, beginning with the existentialist phase. Three key concepts structure the analysis: freedom, situation, and future.

In occasione dei 100 anni dell’Università di Firenze si ricostruisce il profilo dello studioso, con particolare riferimento ai classici che furono i suoi modelli, in un contesto socio-storico particolarmente ostile, che fu quello del Sessantotto.

On the occasion of the first centenary of the University of Florence, the scholar's profile is reconstructed, with particular reference to the classics that were his models, in a particularly hostile socio-historical context, that of 1968.

Questi interventi sono il frutto di una giornata di studi tenutasi presso l’Università di Firenze, dal titolo: Due maestri di letterature neolatine: Oreste Macrí e Arnaldo Pizzorusso. L’evento, che si inserisce nel contesto dell’iniziativa Un secolo d’eccellenza. I grandi umanisti dell’Università di Firenze coordinata dal Direttore del Dipartimento di Lettere e Filosofia (DILEF) prof. Simone Magherini nell’ambito degli eventi per il centenario dell’Università di Firenze, fu organizzato nell’ambito delle attività promosse dalla sezione di Letteratura italiana e Romanistica. Per l’occasione, allieve e allievi hanno ricordato i due Maestri dell’Ispanistica e della Francesistica fiorentina e la profonda impronta lasciata dal loro magistero in intere generazioni di studenti.

These presentations are the result of a study day held at the University of Florence entitled: Two masters of neo-Latin literature: Oreste Macrí and Arnaldo Pizzorusso. The event, which is part of the initiative: A century of excellence. The great humanists of the University of Florence coordinated by the Director of the Department of Literature and Philosophy (DILEF) Prof. Simone Magherini as part of the events for the centenary of the University of Florence, was organised as part of the activities promoted by the Italian and Romance Literature section. For the occasion, students remembered the two masters of Spanish and French studies in Florence and the profound mark left by their teaching on entire generations of students.
